Richard earned his B.A. from Williams College, an affiliated B.A. from the University of Cambridge in the UK, and his M.S.T. and M.S. from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His studies focused on Classics, Mathematics, Statistics, and Math Education. He has traveled extensively and lived in Mexico, Spain, and England.

At Northridge, Richard teaches high school Math and Latin. Outside the classroom, he enjoys weight training, volunteer-teaching Hebrew and Greek, and studying higher mathematics, world religion, and philosophy.
