A Resource for Building Noble Young Men
Parent University aims to foster a community of parents who can share ideas, experiences and friendship. We are dedicated to sharing best practices and helpful ideas for raising thoughtful, strong, daring, and kind children.
- Our in-person events are a space for parents to enjoy a night out, build friendships, and hear intriguing ideas about parenting. All events take place at Northridge Preparatory School in Niles. Childcare will be provided at all Parent University events for $20 regardless of the number of children.
- Our online resources are a compilation of videos, practical guides, and hand-outs developed for our annual guest lectures.
Tolstoy's Anna Karenina: Timeless Wisdom About Marriage and Family Life
At Parent University, our own Bob Barder hosts a series of classes on the greatest novel of all time, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Barder history of studying under one of the world's preeminent scholars on this novel lends to his ability to provide fascinating literary insights that just can't be missed. This event has passed but we hope you can join us next year as we wine and dine over a wonderful bookish discussion.
"Sex, Gender, & Integrity: Helping Our Children Understand"
Dr. Ana Samuel is the Academic Director of CanaVox, a marriage and sexual integrity movement that promotes reading and discussion groups around the world. Her talk addressed specific questions our community had about addressing these matters with our children.
"Because I Want To: Forming the Wills of Our Children"
In her presentation, Mrs. Pilar Caranti will speak about the importance of forming the Wills of our children, and how to effectively do this. She will also give practical advice for encouraging the growth of virtues in our children, and in ourselves. Many anecdotes and real-life examples will illuminate these important concepts.
"Boys Adrift & the Collapse of Parenting"
New York Times Best-Selling Author Dr. Leonard Sax addressed our nation's crisis of masculinity -- a growing epidemic of unmotivated boys and underachieving young men. He also took time to explain why there's hope and what we can do as parents to help our boys be engaged and motivated.
What Are Events Like?
Parent University events have a casual and friendly tone to facilitate community and friendships between parents. The events are opportunities for parents -- both current Northridge families and their friends -- to enjoy a night out, build friendships, and consider important ideas about parenting together. Wine, cheese, and other refreshments will be served at each event.
