Boys learn best by doing — especially when there’s a clear and tangible goal in front of them. In Northridge’s Woodworking Camp, boys will create their very own full size chair to take home. This camp is meant to introduce students to the fundamentals of craftsmanship and workshop safety.
Focus, attention to detail, and hard work are prerequisites for completing a great project. Our goal is for campers to develop confidence in their new skills — enabling them to pursue ambitious projects of their own someday. Mr. Ante Marovic, an expert craftsman and small business owner with over 20 years of experience, will lead the camp and teach the boys what it takes to be a real craftsman. Other skills campers will learn include:
Mr. Ante Marovic
Northridge Facilities Manager
Mr. Marovic grew up in Croatia, where he first learned woodworking in a Middle School shop class. He emigrated to the US in his 20s and built up a thriving custom furniture business. In 2017, he joined the Northridge faculty as Facilities Manager, and has since built many custom pieces of furniture for the school. You can even see some of his work in the halls of Northridge!
