Welcome! Volunteering is a great way not only to support the school and your sons, but to meet other parents. Thank you for your time!

Below we’ve listed all school-wide volunteer events. In addition, each grade is responsible for staffing a specific event. Please see here for those events and your grade’s Class Coordinator. Please contact me any time! We appreciate your efforts and energy!

August Events

MIDDLE SCHOOL ORIENTATION  

When: Friday, August 16,  from 1:30PM -2:30PM, Volunteer times 1:00-3:00PM

Description: Incoming sixth graders and any new seventh and/or eighth graders and their parents will be given important information to get them started on a successful year.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers will cover the tables and lay out the food and drink for the event. During the event you will manage the tables. After the event you will clean up and put items away.

3 volunteers needed

 

FRESHMEN PARENT ORIENTATION 

 When: Monday, August 19, 7:00PM-8:30PM Volunteer times 6:30PM -9:00PM

Description: All parents of freshmen students are invited to learn about the ins and outs of high school—the classes and programs offered, the expectations of the students, and the role of the parents.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers will cover the tables and lay out the food and drink for the event. During the event you will manage the tables. After the event you will clean up and put items away.

3 volunteers needed 

 

NORTHRIDGE FAMILY PICNIC  (***NEW***)

When: Sunday, August 25 from 1:00 -5:00PM Volunteer times 1/2hr slot between 1-4PM

Description: Starting at 1 p.m. all families are welcome to come to our first-ever picnic to connect with old friends and meet new ones. A game of musical chairs will start at 3pm for all.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Each volunteer will manage the tables where young children can color, play with playdoh, do mini crafts, or play with bubbles.

6 volunteers needed—- ALSO Looking for face painters or balloon artists

 

6th GRADE ICE CREAM SOCIAL  

When: Thursday, August 29, from 7:00PM-8:30PM  Volunteer times 6:30PM -8:30PM

Description: All parents and their sixth grade children are invited to get to know one another over a much-enjoyed summer treat. 

Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers will cover the tables and lay out the food and drink for the event. During the event you will manage the tables. After the event you will clean up and put items away.

3 volunteers needed

First Semester Events

TECH TALK FOR ALL NORTHRIDGE PARENTS

 When: Saturday, September 14th, from 7:00PM – 9:30PM, Volunteer time is 6:15 -9:30PM

Description: An night all Northridge parents are asked to attend: Mr. Fagan and a guest speaker will address the impact technology is having on our sons and share examples of how some families have navigated these waters. Talk and Q&A, followed by wine, cheese and refreshments. 

Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers will cover the tables and lay out the food and drink for the event. During the event you will manage the tables. After the event you will clean up and put items away.

COOKIE DOUGH/CINNABUN FUNDRAISER    [Event Chair:  Ileana Rodriguez]

Description: This is Mothers’ Club biggest fundraiser of the school year! Students are given the opportunity to sell cookie dough, cinnamon rolls, and other treats to family and friends.

  • Committee Chair:Come up with creative ideas for grades/halls to compete for most sales.  You will also spread the word with Mr. David Currie (the contact to the supplier) from class to class at Northridge on Tuesday, 10/1/19, handing out order forms and getting the students excited about selling.

 

COOKIE DOUGH BAKING

When:  October 3rd and October 4th for sampling at P/T Conferences

Description:  Parents are invited to help with baking cookies from the cookie dough provided by the school.

Volunteer Responsibilities:  Bake 5 dozen cookies with the dough provided and bring to school in the morning.

3 volunteers needed each day.  Oct. 3rd. or Oct. 4th

 

COOKIE DOUGH SORTING

When: Wednesday, November 13th  from 1:00-3:30PM 

Description:  Parents are invited to help with sorting cookie orders and distributing them to the boys.

Volunteer Responsibilities: volunteers are needed for sorting and distributing orders.

6 volunteers needed

 

FALL PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES 

 When: Thursday, October 3,  from 5:30-8:30PM Volunteer times 5:00-8:30 p.m. 

Description: All parents are invited to partake in conferences with their children’s teachers. The volunteers will tag team, each working 1-1.25 hour shifts so they can meet with their children’s teachers.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers are needed for setting up refreshments and managing tables.

3 volunteers needed

 

FALL PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES 

When: Friday, October 4,  from 1:00-4:30PM Volunteer times 12:30- 4:30 p.m.

Description: All parents are invited to partake in conferences with their children’s teachers. The volunteers will tag team, each working 1-1.25 hour shifts so they can meet with their children’s teachers.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers are needed for setting up refreshments and managing tables.

3 volunteers needed

 

FALL SPORTS AWARDS     

 When: Thursday, November 14,  6:30-9:00PM Volunteer times  6:00PM – 8:00PM

Description: For those participating in fall sports, this event highlights the achievements of the overall teams and of the individuals who performed exceptionally well. 

Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers will cover the tables and lay out the food and drink for the event. During the event you will manage the tables. After the event you will clean up and put items away.

4 volunteers needed  

CHRISTMAS DECORATING   [Event Chairs: Dawn Kaczynski & Donna Adam] 

When: The morning of Saturday, November 30,  

Description: The decorating crew—which can be made up of moms, dads, and children—make the season of Advent come alive at Northridge.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Assist in putting up decorations to beautify the school environment in preparation for Christmas.

8 volunteers needed

 

WINTER CONCERT     

When: Wednesday, December 11, 7:00-9:00PM    Volunteer times 6:30PM -9:30PM

Description: Mr. John Riccobono directs this magnificent musical comprised of both middle school and high school bands. A reception follows the concert.

 Volunteer Responsibilities: Set up the donated refreshments, manage the table, and clean up the refreshment tables at the conclusion of the event

GUADALUPE FEST     [Event Chair:  Martia Sacris]

 When: Thursday, December 12,  11:35AM – 12:15PM Volunteer times 10:00-1:00PM

Description: The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a day to show our love towards Mary, our mother, with an all-school Mass and presentation of roses. During lunchtime, a Mexican churro will be given to each student. We are open to having lunch again for all students and faculty/staff but only if it can be fully donated.                

 Volunteer Responsibilities:Decorate the serving and eating areas of the cafeteria and faculty lounge, get Roses and Churros from Costco, set up and serve the churros at lunchtime clean up and take down the decorations, putting them back in storage.

Second Semester Events

TRIVIA NIGHT   [Event Chairs: Meredith Carpenter & Angela Flood]

When: Saturday, January 25, 7:00-10:00PM   Volunteer times 6:00PM -10:30PM

Description: This is a fun parent night out where teams are made, “useless knowledge” is challenged, and everyone has a good time. Participants bring appetizers to share and/or a cooler of drinks. 

Volunteer Responsibilities: Planning the event (creating the theme, the categories with questions, the prizes, and the overall flow of the event with the committee chair, make a flyer for the event, label, stuff, and seal invitations, set up the decorations; work at the event; clean up

MIDDLE SCHOOL GRANDPARENTS’ LUNCH    [Event Chair: OPEN]           

 When: Friday, January 31,9:00-3:30PM   Volunteer times 7:30AM -3:30PM (Can work a shift in the morning/afternoon)

Description: Grandparents are invited to come see the projects & join us for lunch during the Middle School Museum.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Lunch ordered by Laura Bennett, Label, stuff, and seal invitations, set up, serve, clean up (supervise boys who help out with set up, serving and clean up) meet and greet grandparents, assisting them around the Middle School Museum if necessary.

WINTER PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE 

When: Wednesday, February 12, from 5:30-8:30PM   Volunteer times 5:00-8:30PM

Description: All parents are invited to partake in conferences with their children’s teachers. The volunteers will tag team, each working 1-1.25 hour shifts so they can meet with their children’s teachers

WINTER PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE

When:Thursday, February 13,  from 12:30-3:00 PM. Volunteer times 12:00-3:30PM

Description:  All parents are invited to partake in conferences with their children’s teachers. The volunteers will tag team, each working 1-1.25 hour shifts so they can meet with their children’s teachers. 

Volunteer Responsibilities: Set up the refreshments, manage the tables, and clean up at the conclusion of the event.

MARDI GRAS BAKE SALE          [Event Chair:  Alyssa Barrett]

When: Tuesday, February 25, from 8:00-3:30PM  Volunteer times 7:15-3:45PM 2 hr. shifts

Description: This Fat Tuesday Bake Sale is an annual tradition at Northridge. EVERYONE—students, parents, teachers, administration, and staff—is encouraged to come to the bake sale and support the Mothers’ Club.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Donate homemade or store-bought baked goods, drinks (juice boxes, milk, and coffee), and paper goods, take in donations and set up first thing in the morning, man the tables and sell goodies during the event, clean up after event.

MOTHER-SON LUNCHEON      [Event Chairs: Carrie Nelson & Angela Flood]

When: Wednesday, March 4, mid morning -3:00PM     Volunteer times VARY

Description: This is a much-anticipated yearly event! Moms are invited to an all-school Mass at Northridge; immediately following the Mass is an elegant meal at a banquet hall. Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Plan the luncheon, theme, centerpieces, and the menu (3 Volunteers)
  • Label, stuff, and seal invitations (2 Volunteers)
  • Determine the seating arrangements by grade (2 Volunteers)
  • Organize the raffle basket theme, tickets, and their sales (4 Volunteers)
  • Secure MC, babysitters, & people to set up the morning of event (3 volunteers)
  • Clean up, where necessary (3 Volunteers)

 

PARENT UNIVERSITY   

When: Saturday, March 7th,from 7:00-9:30PM  Volunteer times Volunteer times 6:15 -10:00PM

Description: The Parent Lecture brings professionals from around the country to speak about topics related to building young men of intellect and character who love God. These speakers are selected for their mastery of the subject and excellent delivery. They will bring helpful insights and foster dialogue about key aspects of raising noble, young men. There will be a wine and cheese reception to follow, where conversations continue with instructors and friends. 

Volunteer Responsibilities: Set up the refreshments, man the tables, and clean up at the conclusion of the event.

WINTER SPORTS AWARDS     

When: Wednesday, March 18, from 6:30-9:30PM    Volunteer times  6:00 -8:00PM 

Description: For those participating in winter sports, this event highlights the achievements of the overall teams and of the individuals who performed exceptionally well.          

Volunteer Responsibilities: Set up the pizza and donated refreshments and clean up at the conclusion of the event.

3 volunteers needed

 

DINNER AT THE RIDGE  [Event Chairs: Leslie Forman & Laura Bennett]

When: Saturday, April 25,6:00-11:00PM 

Description: Northridge Prep’s annual fundraiser is an elegant evening in our transformed gym where parents, alumni, and friends of our school enjoy a multi-course meal, fund-a need, silent auctions, raffles, musical performances, and inspiring speeches.

  • Volunteers from attendees are also needed the night of the event for table check-in, raffle sales, and check out

 

 

SPRING CONCERT     

 When: Thursday, April 30, from 7:00-8:30PM  Volunteer times 6:30PM – 9:00PM

Description: Mr. John Riccobono directs this grand musical comprised of both middle school and high school bands. A reception follows the concert.               

Volunteer Responsibilities: Set up the donated refreshments and clean up the refreshment tables at the conclusion of the event.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK  [Event Chair: Carrie Nelson]

When: Monday, May 4 – Friday, May 8, 2020

Description: We show the faculty and staff our appreciation by presenting them with daily breakfasts, and a lunch on Wednesday. 

Volunteer Responsibilities:  To come in and set up the breakfast foods that are donated and help manage the food during the scheduled time. Also clean up and put the extra food away.

3  volunteers needed each lunch of the school week

We will put out a list prior to event for people to sign up to bring/donate the food needed.

Year-Round Volunteering

NORTHRIDGE FAMILY SUPPORT NETWORK [Chairs: Carrie Nelson & Angela Flood]

 When: As needed throughout the school year and summer

Description: The Northridge Family Support Network is a wonderful way to show charity to our families in need of temporary assistance. Whether it be in good times such as a new addition to the family/new home or in difficult times such as a prolonged illness or debilitating injury, hospitalization, or job loss—moms (dads and children, too) can give assistance to those of us humbly requesting help. ***If you are or know of a family in need, please email mothersclub@northridgeprep.org

Volunteer Responsibilities: Make and deliver meals, run errands; give rides to appointments, school, etc.

Do light housework such as vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, and laundry 

Do yard work such as watering flowers/plants, mowing, raking, and shoveling snow                               

 

ALTAR FLOWERS     [Chair: Angela Flood]

 When: Every day school is in session, beginning Friday, August 23

Description: Flowers are needed on the front of the altar (stems cut and flowers laid on the edge), as well in a vase of water in front of the mosaic of Blessed Mother (near the entrance to the Chapel).

Committee Chair: The chair will create a schedule and ensure that we have volunteers as often as possible, particularly on Feast Days and All-School Masses. Flowers are not needed on the altar during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

Volunteer Responsibilities : Volunteer to bring and place flowers as often as you are able to do so.
