Now in it’s second year, The Entrepreneurship Club will be joining a start-up competition run by MIT (the university) to compete with about 100 high schools across the US to pitch the best business idea. The club is run by Mr. Fagan (our Headmaster) who comes to Northridge with strong business experience, including 5 years in various marketing roles at Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
Northridge students who join this club will be paired into teams of 3 – 5 students, who will have to come up with a start up idea within a broad category provided by The MIT Launch Club (last year’s category was “education”). The MIT Launch Club will provide a curriculum and mentors for each team, who will have to develop their idea in the Fall, and have their pitch ready by March. If a team qualifies in the regional competition, they will travel to Boston to pitch their idea at MIT in May. The club will have occasional guest speakers and possibly a field trip to introduce Northridge students to Chicago’s entrepreneurs.
Requirements: In addition to the two meetings per week, students must be willing to work an average of 2 hours a week on their team’s idea (probably lighter in the fall, more in the winter), and travel to the regional pitch competition in March.
