Northridge Signs Agreement with Archdiocese of Chicago to Assess Maryhill Cemetery Property
Northridge Preparatory School has entered into a land lease agreement with the Archdiocese of Chicago for 22 acres of land on the undeveloped southwest portion of Maryhill Catholic Cemetery.
We will now conduct site inspections to confirm the land's suitability for development, evaluating whether the property meets all requirements for athletic fields and potentially future facilities. This follows several years of searching for a new property, with a strong preference for remaining in Niles.
About Northridge. Northridge is an independent all-boys school, grades 6-12. We have 370 students, the majority of whom are Catholic, which is the religion we teach. We are open to all faiths (with many represented), and our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. Northridge is one of the top-ranked schools in Illinois and nationally recognized for the quality of its graduates, both from an academic and character perspective. You can learn more about the school on our website, at northridgeprep.org.
Need for New Property. Over the past decade Northridge has strengthened its offerings and grown in enrollment to the point where, today, the school is streching the bounds of its current space. Its most pressing need is to address its lack of athletic fields - Northridge has none - and limited gymnasium space for its thriving athletics program, while evaluating options for adding classrooms and parking to alleviate the most pressing needs at its current location.
Project Status. Northridge is currently in the due diligence stage of its lease agreement. The school has hired the civil engineering firm, V3, to perform surveys, soil, environmental, water retention and related studies to determine whether the property is able to support the desired development. This may take several more months, and the results are required before site designs can be drafted with confidence.
Planned Updates. Once initial designs for the property are drafted, there will be an Open House for neighbors to share feedback.
