About Mr. Rhee
Mr. Rhee is a New Jersey native, who graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in both Political Science and Pre-Health Studies. Throughout college, he pursued a career as a doctor, even receiving a grant to spend a summer working in the emergency ward in a rural hospital in Ghana. As an undergraduate, Mr. Rhee was also a teaching assistant in both the Biology and Organic Chemistry laboratory classes, and he worked as a medical scribe for an Opthamalogist.
However, he found himself simultaneously drawn to a career in education through teaching Physical Science in a local village school in Ghana, and by spending a summer working in the corporate work study office at Cristo Rey High School in New York. By senior year, he made a concrete decision to pursue a future in education and wrote his senior thesis centered on the role of education in the justification and legitimacy of a state, and enrolled in the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) Program to earn his Masters in Education.
Through the Alliance for Catholic Education Program, Mr. Rhee relocated to East Los Angeles, where he taught Chemistry and Algebra II and coached on the Varsity football team at Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary High School. After graduating from the program, he relocated to Illinois to teach Physical Science, Chemistry and AP Chemistry at Northridge in 2017. In his first couple years at Northridge, he took over the Dangerous Camp for Boys Summer Camp, started a Varsity Wrestling Program, coached Middle School basketball, and High School Track.
Mr. Rhee first gained his administrative experience at Northridge as the Director of Summer Programs. He was named Head of Middle School in May of 2019. Today, he continues to teach Science in the Middle School, teach AP Chemistry, coach varsity wrestling, and run Dangerous Camp.
