Colman grew up in Washington, DC and earned his B.A. in English with a minor in Journalism from Hillsdale College. At Hillsdale, he was an editor for the student newspaper, worked in the President’s office, and sang in several a cappella groups. He also has extensive drama experience from high school and worked in youth programs over summers, where he discovered his aptitude for teaching. At Hillsdale, he became close friends with Northridge alumni, including shared backpacking trips in Wyoming.

At Northridge, Colman teaches English, History, Art & Music, and Rhetoric in Middle School and serves as Director in the Drama Department. He lives in the area with his wife, Willows alumna, Lucy (née Potter).
