About Mr. Stangel
Mike grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago and attended Northridge before finishing at Maine South High School. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and worked as an engineer for five years in manufacturing, LED lighting, and RF microwave amplifiers.
Mike discovered his passion for teaching through sharing knowledge with coworkers and teaching at the Midtown Education Program. That passion, combined with his love of math and science, brought him back to Northridge.
At Northridge, Mike teaches Middle School Math. He and his wife have a young family and enjoy life on the Northwest side. In his free time, Mike plays guitar, builds and repairs electronics, and plays basketball and 16-inch softball.
