About Mr. Carbajal

Edwin was born in Honduras and grew up in the Bronx. He attended high school in Wilton, Connecticut, as an A Better Chance scholar before graduating from Princeton University in 2014 with a B.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. During his junior year, he studied abroad at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Gamboa, Panama. He later earned his M.S.B.S. from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

After Princeton, Edwin completed an IRTA fellowship in Helminth Immunology at the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases in Bethesda, Maryland. He then completed a PREP research fellowship in Microbiology at Mount Sinai, investigating innate immune responses to seasonal influenza. While living in Washington, DC, Edwin helped run high school seminars at the Tenley Study Center. Later in New York, he spent two years leading seminars for The Grade NYC, a leadership program for high school students. He’s currently working on several scientific manuscripts for publication.

At Northridge, Edwin teaches Science and Math. He also works with the seminars at the Sauganash Study Center in Chicago. In his free time, he enjoys writing poetry, playing volleyball, and studying the philosophy of science.
