SCI 103-104: Biology
This course emphasizes diversity within and convergence among all kingdoms at the molecular, biochemical, and organismal levels. Students will cover cell structure and function, electrophysiology and metabolism, genetics (classical and molecular), nucleic acids, evolution, and finally ecosystem dynamics and energetics. In the laboratory, students will learn quantitative analysis, laboratory technique, and presentation, enriching topics that are presented in lecture, including dissection. The key STEM skills emphasized in this course include defining and analyzing systems, basing conclusions on evidence, and modeling.
