Course Description

Rhetoric is one of the cornerstones of public life in the Western tradition. In Speech and Debate, students receive an introduction to the art of rhetoric through the basics of debate. Students will be introduced to two debate formats, Public Forum and Model United Nations. Through these formats, they will practice the most essential habits necessary to intelligently discuss complex topics, including coherent and respectful expression of one’s own arguments, and patient and attentive comprehension of the arguments of others.
