MATH 109-110: Geometry

Core

Course Description

In this course, students will explore practical applications of geometry, learn how geometry relates to other mathematical disciplines, and gain a deep understanding of proofs: “the heart and soul of mathematics.” Students are given many opportunities to hone their algebra skills throughout geometry by solving linear, quadratic, radical, and systems of equations, proportions, and by studying the properties of equality. Geometry also provides opportunities for students to transition between concrete and abstract thinking while learning to solve problems, reason critically, understand concepts, and better communicate mathematically.
