HIST 70: American History I

Course Description
This course will outline American history in its triumphs, glories, dangers, ironies, and failures in order to provide young men with a sense of their inheritance and story as Americans. Beginning with the roots of democracy and republicanism in ancient Greece and Rome, resuming with the colonial era and the American Revolution, we will end our study of American history with the Civil War and Reconstruction. Students will study their textbook and well as various original sources to build a mental timeline of their nation’s history from the Colonial Era through the Civil War
