HIST 552: AP Comparative Government
Elective

Course Description
Through an in-depth introduction to political analysis, AP Comparative Government and Politics uses a comparative approach to examine the political structures, philosophical identities, policies, and political, economic, and social challenges of six selected countries: China, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, and the United Kingdom. Students explore the nature of power and authority, legitimacy, stability, representation, and a specific focus on the distinction between “authoritarian” and “liberal” regimes. This course prepares students for the AP Comparative Government and Politics exam and is an excellent course for students interested in international politics, political philosophy, and college-level area studies.
