HIST 252: American Government & Politics
Elective
Course Description
For many years now, civics education has been required at schools across America, and yet many young people lack a basic knowledge of our government or current events. Even those who are aware of current events are often limited to repeating the latest talking points from social media, with little historical or moral perspective.
The Northridge senior civics course aims to give students the tools to be active and informed citizens. We believe that citizenship requires a deep and balanced understanding of history, law, ethics, and patriotism. In addition, students will gain a systematic understanding of the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, the Federalist Papers, and many pivotal Supreme Court cases.
