Chess Team Update

The past ten days have been busy ones for the Northridge Chess Knights.

Recently, the Knights competed in the Glenbard Classic Tournament, going 1-2-1 on the day, coming in 10th  of 12 teams in the tournament.  Standout performances included Peter James, 4th on Board 1; Owen Davis, 5th on Board 5; and Isaiah Fletcher, 4th on Board 8.  In the Open section, Tom Saji came in 3rd of 20 and Danish Kadri 6th.

Last week the Knights faced Notre Dame HS in a friendly team tournament, winning 165-79! Top point scorers were Joaquin Roman, first of 22 players; Peter James, 2nd; and Owen Davis, David Roman, and Danish Kadri, all of whom tied for 4th.

Last week the Knights also came in 11th of 14 teams in their conference, the North Suburban Chess League, going 1-3 on the day and ending with a close call to New Trier, 32.5-35.5.  Joaquin Roman came in 4th on Board 2, and Isaiah Fletcher went 2-1-1 on Board 4.  Go Knights!
