Overview
Love cars or want to know how to properly maintain them? Want your son to learn basic automotive skills? Whether it is something as simple as changing a tire, checking fluids under the hood or a little bit more advanced like changing oil and inspecting brake pads, the automotive camp is for you. The automotive camp is an exciting, immersive, hands-on learning experience designed to introduce young individuals to the essential skills needed for basic car maintenance. Over the course of one week, teens will learn the fundamentals of vehicle care, repair, and upkeep in a fun, interactive environment.
Why Automotive Repair Camp?
The automotive club will focus on providing a hands-on experience for skills such as:
- Basic car maintenance: the campers will gain practical experience in performing routine maintenance tasks, like changing oil, replacing air filters, and checking tire pressure
- Learning how to inspect brakes, fluids, and sensors
- Introduction to tools and equipment: the campers will become familiar with key tools like wrenches (lug wrench), jacks, and screwdrivers to learn how to safely use them
- Hands-on experience: the campers will work on actual vehicles, guided by the instructor, to perform maintenance tasks and gain confidence in their mechanical abilities
- Safety training: the camp will emphasize the proper procedures for handling tools, lifting cars, and dealing with automotive fluids.

Álvaro Vargas has been at Northridge since 2016, where he teaches Spanish and History. Prior to working at Northridge, Álvaro spent his summer and winter vacations working in general construction with his brother.
