18 Knights Named Illinois State Scholars
Congratulations to our 18 Illinois State Scholars in the senior class. The Illinois State Scholar Award is given to the top 10% of students in the state based on combined GPA & SAT/ACT scores. Over the past four years these young men have worked exceptionally hard, and we’re proud to recognize their success.
Mohammed Abdul Muiz, William Ahne, Jack Arnold, Brady Birmingham, Jack Brown, Joseph Carpenter, Owen Coleman, Giancarlo Donahue, Ulysses Fernandez, Isaiah Fletcher, Freddy Jaramillo, Daniel Kaiser, Stephen Kuhlman, Domenico Martinez, Owen Mongoven, Thomas Scherer, Luka Stanic, and Andrew Vazzano.
These students are hoping to take their academic achievements into the nation’s top colleges. Of the eighteen scholars, seven have already been accepted into some prestigious universities. Ulysses Fernandez was accepted into Northwestern, Giancarlo Donahue to Notre Dame, and Isaiah Fletcher was admitted to Princeton. Isaiah’s brother Paul (2020 Northridge Graduate) also attends Princeton.
All of our scholars participate in & lead extracurricular activities. Jack Brown, the cofounder of Service Club, Luka Stanic, the founder of Model UN at Northridge, Joseph “Kenobi” Carpenter, the school’s Band Leader, and Owen Coleman, the Basketball Team Captain, are prime examples of the leaders that Northridge produces.
18 of the 52 seniors were named Illinois State Scholars. While we couldn’t be more proud of our eighteen scholars, we prefer to look at the overall success of the class of 2022. This class emphasizes why Northridge is ranked the 3rd best Catholic school in Illinois. Though eighteen students were selected for their academic excellence, roughly 60% of our seniors ended the 1st semester with an “A” average. We’re thankful for their outstanding leadership, and the academic performance of the entire ‘22 class is one that will shine in the history of Northridge.
