History: Lincoln & The First Shot

Richard N. Current’s book, Lincoln and the First Shot, will be the basis for the lively discussion and activities led by Dr. Kelliher.

The seminar will consist of three short lectures, followed by discussion of Lincoln’s handling of the Fort Sumter crisis. Activities will include battle reenactments with nerf guns and various rereadings of famous speeches by Lincoln. Students should have read the first three chapters before the first class.
